When You Least Expect It (Part 2)

Sometimes things come when you least expect them. In the last two months I've been graced with a wonderful daughter that I truly adore and a girlfriend who actually likes me for who I am rather than who I am not. As I'm still finding out who I am in this second life of mine, I'm finding out more of what I want and what I can leave out. The stories I'll be able to tell here are ones that will define my character in this world and also help with the one outside of here.

So let's begin with some of the most recent adventures I've had.

One night after finishing a set, Abby, Cady, and I went to visit Lucky and Haley at their house. We decided after a while to go bowling, now I'd never been bowling on SL before and seeing as how in RL I once enjoyed it that it would be fun. We went to an alley and unfortunately it was a little more laggy than I would have liked but it was quite impressed with how it works. At first I sorta sucked and was getting my butt whooped but like most times...once the Fret gets going the can of whoop ass gets opened and I began to dominate. I took a pic of Abby bowling to remember the occasion.

I'm going to continue on with gushing about my daughter some more since I like to brag about her...part of this tale won't be so warm and fuzzy but it happened. Currently Abby is enrolled at Brazy High School where she has all kinds of classes on her schedule not to mention she's on the Cheerleading Squad (do I see professional sports in her future?) I've yet to get a report card but I'm sure when I do that I will be rewarding her for good grades. She's really bright and definitely is by far smarter then I am so maybe I'll learn something.

There was a mishap during what should have been a time to meet some of her school officials but it sort of went awry. I'm not going to go into details but let's just say there's something about teenagers carrying weapons that scares me. Reminded me a bit of The Outsiders...love that movie. In the end though it wasn't a proper showing of how a family should act. It's over and done with though so hopefully there will be some teacher conferences that I can attend to become more involved with her schooling.

Here's a photo I snapped of Abby during a practice...I kinda want to have a word with the coach about those outfits...but I think they are working on that presently. These are teenage girls not The Pussycat Dolls.

There's a lot of time where I feel like I'm not a good father at all and maybe it is just because I'm so new at it. Every day is different and even sometimes Abby is a handful, we both know eachother's boiling points and never push it past that. She is well behaved about 98% of the time so I've never had to make her go to her room or ground her. She is the daughter that anyone would want and the best that anyone could ask for. I'll stop now otherwise she will probably kill me. XOXO sweetheart, Daddy loves you! Hehehehehe

In other news I went to the Wicked Cowboys game Friday night and they did really well. My brother Rusty played the entire game and they won which made for an awesome after celebration...which I sorta ducked because Abby had been sick and was at the house so I wanted to make sure she was okay. It was pretty awesome though because I enjoy going to the games and the tailgating for them is fun as well. Get a chance to talk with some of the team and personnel before they get to work. Roosters is becoming quite the star so hopefully the paparazzi stay off my front stoop or I'll load my shotgun quicker than it takes Charlie Sheen to check into rehab. Congrats though brother, you're doing an awesome job so keep up the good work.

Everything in my business ventures is going pretty smoothly. This next week I'll be having a Grand Opening for Projekt Mayhem, hopefully I can wrangle all the staff together so that we can all be there to meet customers and guests. I've made a few sales so far with the shirts we sell so that's a plus and gives me a more positive outlook then I had about a week ago. Just have to keep the word out there and do as much promoting as possible. I think there's half a chance that it will take off in one form or another....*crosses fingers* here's to hoping.

DJ'ing has been wonderful too. Lately I've been getting more requests but I'm still not satisfied...I like to build around YOU! So for those of you that are reading that come to my sets, I'd like for you to come up with some stuff so everyone can join in on the fun. I've made some new fans as well...so welcome to Fretwerkaholics Anonymous...it's fun, free, and a better high than one you can buy! Oh look I rhymed...score!

Also for those of you on the grid that are familiar with Plurk, I am now a member and you can contact me on there by going HERE so don't hesitate to hit me up. I like hearing from those of you out there that might be lurking off in the shadows.

I think I've been working on this enough and there's a U-Know get together about to take place. So I'll see you all real soon and have a great week!

When You Least Expect It... (Part 1)

As you can see if you are a normal reader of this blog, it's been given a little bit of a makeover. I changed the template a little and made a completely new header (which took me a lot longer than I anticipated for it to be finished). I hope everyone is well out there in SL land. I'm doing wonderful at the moment despite the time in which I'm starting this entry.

Projekt Mayhem is still being worked on and has not been officially opened...I hope for it to get finished by the end of the week for sure. The longer I keep putting things off the more I'm wondering if it is even worth trying since there are so many clothing stores and photography places out there already. What will make this one different...why would people choose us over someone that's more established? Hopefully I'll have the answers to that soon enough.

All that has driven me to going around looking like this:

Yes, it is what it looks like and I'm not going to defend my lack of sanity anymore...no point in it. I guess I'm just going to have to pretend when going to social functions or anything my awesome daughter, Abby, wishes me to attend. Though maybe she'll be too embarrassed to now...hehehe

In my last entry I made note that I met a young lady by the name of Cady. Well...as the title of this entry states sometimes things come to you when you least expect them to. Much in the same way Abby came into my life and made it what it is, Cady has as well. We are now officially dating and therefore takes me off the market. Sorry to any of you ladies out there that might be disappointed.

My DJ'ing schedule this past week was quite hectic...I even took on an extra shift this past week which saw me working both at Echo and Mostly Harmless. It was really rough but I had a great time doing it anyway so while I may be hesitant to repeat that kind of day, I'm not entirely against it; it gives me a chance to showcase my wide variety of music tastes and find out what kind some of the other residents have as well (good or bad).

Since this entry is so late, I'm going to split it up into two segments. I have more that I'd like to write about but it's just getting to be too darn late.

From now one I'm going to concentrate on things that I'm doing on the grid. There's not much in my rl to really write about and I think that since most people that find this diary of sorts only know me from Second Life, that's what I'm going to stick to. Those who know me outside of it or talk to me on a constant basis know what I'm up to anyway. :)

So this is going to conclude the first part of the entry...I'll be working on the other part sometime later today. Thanks to those of you that have taken the time to read about my adventures; it means a lot to me.

Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man

Wow what a week or so it's been since I last posted. So much has happened in that time I truly do not know where to begin. I am on the verge of cutting the ribbon on Projekt Mayhem and the store will soon be completely open for business...I can't wait! I have the shirt vendor installed and am in the process of adding products into it that I hope people enjoy and possibly even purchase. I guess we'll see what happens with that but I'm optimistic if anything that our photography studio and shirt collection will be a hit if not soon then somewhere down the road.

A funny thing happened not long ago that I would be remiss if I didn't mention it. Abby and I were sitting in the front room just talking about whatever and this friend of hers wanted to stop by. I don't usually have a problem with her having people over and I think I'm pretty cool as a Dad as far as that goes. So takes a port in and to our complete and total shock he was completely bare-ass naked with his wizzbanger out in all it's glory. It was like a skin colored rolling pin...lord help us. To make things worse apparently this goof was drunk and looking to score with my child...oh hell no. So I was polite enough to tell him to put some clothes on but that fell upon deaf ears..so then I gave him a warning that if he didn't leave by the time I finished counting to 10 he would get booted. I begin counting and the stupid assclown starts counting with me and so when I reached 1, I was done. I sent him god knows where naked as the day he was rezzed. Maybe he was ejected to somewhere full of people and him standing there in all his splendor would feel about as small as a door mouse. Looks like from now on I'm going to have Abby let her friends know that I have a disclaimer that everyone must enter our home properly dressed.

The other night I was also afforded the opportunity to attend the SFL Wicked Cowboys Grand Opening Ball as a guest of my brother Rusty. Usually I don't get asked to do things like this and at first I was apprehensive but I threw on a suit and gave it a shot. I stayed in the back of the room like only the best wallflower would since the only person I really knew was him until a few people we both know were invited. I danced with a friend of his named Pen for a bit at his urging. Not that there's anything wrong with her but something just didn't seem to make it feel like a good idea. It turned out alright though. The most interesting part of the night is I made a new friend. While I was standing around being the wallflower, I received a message about how cool my sideburns were. I was actually pretty stoked about that since I haven't really had much of a comment since I have had them; I was polite and said thank you and that was about it. A little while later when the party started slowing down I noticed this person was still there so I decided to strike up a conversation and that is how I met Cady. She likes to blog and is even a fan of this one right here! (Awesome yeah?) We've had some fun conversations and she even came to my set at Echo last night.

Speaking of making new friends...I have been fortunate enough to have made the acquaintances of a few other great people on the grid. There is Sara who started out as a friend of Rusty's who came by the house a few times and is a Cheerleader for the Cowboys; and has a love for music which is a plus; makes for some fun convos. I've also had the pleasure of meeting Amp, a young man whom I encountered while I was DJ'ing at Mostly Harmless. He himself spins in real life and I've been giving him tips on how to go about doing it here as well; I hope the best for him and will be happy to see success for him.

Did I forget to mention that Projekt Mayhem has a blog? I probably haven't but since this is my blog I can shamelessly plug my store :) You can check out what we have going on HERE!

A few nights ago Matt and Amber came by to watch a movie, we watched "The Waterboy" with Adam Sandler. I've seen it plenty of times rl but it never gets old and I could watch it anytime without hesitation because I consider it comedy gold and a classic. It was also nice to spend time with them and Amber is so cute to watch a movie with. She's the best niece you could ask for and my only one (at least for now anyway).

I have one more thing I want to mention before I switch to the rl section of my blog. One of the hostess' from Echo brought up to me last night about possibly entering the DJ contest they are having at the club. At first I was against it and I think that I'm going to put it into the hands of my readers (what few there are). If you think that I should try getting in on this contest let me know. I'd like to hear from you whether you are a casual reader or a follower (and possibly a genuine Frethead/Fretwerkaholic). Feedback is everything and I'd like to know what the peepulation thinks. It's in your hands

Well there is not a whole lot to report from the real side of things this week. It's been snowing here and mainly most of my activity has been on the grid. I went back to work after my vacation and it was fine although I really didn't miss being there but it is a necessary evil. With hours being sparse I'll just be tightening up the belt a little bit and not going out to movies or dinner which I can live with. I've got plenty to do on SL anyway to keep me busy and if I want to spend money I can just do it there and not have the same guilt.

I'm in mourning because my team is out of the playoffs. In what is probably going to be thought of as one of the biggest upsets of all, the Seahawks beat my Saints by 5 points and knocked them out of a return shot at the Super Bowl trophy. I was not easily impressed by the play of the Saints as I usually am...maybe it was the big injuries they had that hindered their play but whatever it is they have a lot of time to think about it and get back on track for next season.

The Packers beat the Eagles though and that made me happy but it means they have to move on to one of the toughest teams in the NFL right now, Atlanta. They lost very few games and it seems like they are nearly untouchable but with barely beating the Pack it seems there is a good chance we could see an upset and the Green n Gold will be playing for the NFC Championship against whoever wins between Seattle/Chicago. I'm sort of up in the air on who I want to win that one...I dislike both teams but I may want to see Chicago since the 'hawks took my team out. Revenge type thinking I guess.

The only other thing that I have to mention is that I picked up a new mouse because I thought my old one was going. I guess I made a smart decision because not long after I bought it the rubber part on the wheel of the mouse broke but the funny thing is it works a little better without it. I'm going to hang onto the new one a little longer and get more use out of the one I have; I think the moment the batteries die in the old one is when I will switch them out. I think that I sometimes have the keen ability to know when I need to replace something and do it just at the right time.

Well that's all for this installment and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. I'll be back again soon with some more shenannigans for you to discover. Take care until next!

...and Boom Goes The Dynamite!

Happy New Years everyone! Hope you all are fairing well in what we now are calling 2011 (Twenty-Eleven/Two Thousand-Eleven)! There's been so much going on lately that I'm not sure where to begin or even where to end or if I'm even going to forget something (which I'm highly likely to). Still been working on trying to get the store completely set up but with all the holidays and business going on it just makes it tough. I probably mentioned that in my last writing but sometimes I do repeat myself; if that's the case then you can just skip over it if you like. I won't be offended.

Life with Abby has been amazing even still; the two of us have gone on adventures together and I've met some interesting people through her that I'm sure I would have never come across on my own. Is that good or bad? I can't say for sure yet because I'm still processing things in that dept. I do know that we have a new house down and almost completely done except for a few touches here and there and of course her room itself. She's having a bed commissioned and we're just waiting for it to be completed.

My brother Rusty moved in with us as well and that's been just as amazing as it is amusing. I can't help but laugh at some of the conversations we have with house guests or just in our own little three musketeer company. I kind of feel bad in a way that Abby has to live with the two of us...I think at some point as children we were dropped on our head at least once if not more. I still wouldn't change it if I had the ability to...my family is as Abby puts it, "Tre Coolio!"

I've still be DJ'ing of course as well as getting Projekt Mayhem off the ground. I think that when you have your hands in so many different pots you tend to get lost in which pot you have your hand in. It probably doesn't make a lot of sense but it's a pretty easy concept. I guess being somewhat scatterbrained and not having a key focus on something or even prioritizing makes it difficult to accomplish anything. Abby and I have said we're going to get things figured out soon and hopefully we do because there's no rate of success if you're not keeping anything moving.

As you can see in the above pic, I took a moment just to hang out in my backyard by the palm tree. I needed some time to just reflect on the year that had just passed and the new one that's just begun. I think I've reached some moments of clarity if such a thing exists (which I believe it does). I know I'm going to do my best to make sure my family in SL is happy and taken care of while my DJ'ing career continues and Projekt Mayhem begins to prosper. I really want it to take off so badly but I think if it doesn't manage to I will at least have given it a good run and be at peace with it but I'm not ready to wave the white flag just yet.

I suppose I should move on to the real world section for a bit before I keep ramblin on and on and then get mentally winded and not fully finish this post....so here goes...

Well I suppose I should start with Christmas since I haven't written anything since then. I didn't really give or receive many gifts this year with things being a little tight but made up for it with a better sense of being. I wasn't overly spirited this year but maybe around the same time next year I'll have more to be cheerful about...it could happen!

All the way up until close on Christmas Eve my work was pretty crazy and the moment I stepped out of the building and knew I had vacation coming I felt a huge sigh of relief. I was ready to recharge and re-energize myself; it's been nice to do things when I wanted to or to stay up late and sleep in without having to be up at a specific time. I haven't really don't much of anything besides go out to dinner and movies with my friend Matt. I've seen three movies and two of them were with him. The first one we saw was The Fighter, which is based on a real life boxer. I thought the acting was superb and that both Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg deserve awards for their parts in it. The next one I saw was on New Year's Eve, The Tourist. I think Johnny Depp is an amazingly talented guy and pairing him with Angelina Jolie was a good fit. The plot was good and had a lot of twists and turns which is what every action/suspense movie should have with a twist of humor thrown in. Lastly, I saw the 2010 remake of True Grit with Jeff Bridges. After seeing this film it makes me curious about the original so I may have to rent it just to compare the two and while I'm sure there's easily not much to hold one up to the other, they both probably present something that is desired. I enjoyed it immensely and all three of those will be good DVD purchases.

On the sports side of things...the Badgers lost to TCU in the Rose Bowl which sucked. The Saints also lost their last game of the season but they still are in the playoffs and the Packers actually won to secure the final Wild Card slot which is cool. Both my teams are in the playoffs so I hope they all do well but if they end up play eachother I'll be going to root for the Saints.

I'll be going back to work Thursday and I am not necessarily prepared but I need to get back to making the moolah otherwise I'll be broke with doing all this fun stuff while on vacation. It'll be interesting to see all the people I work with since I haven't been there since Christmas eve. All good things come to an end and thus vacation will for me in short time.

So with that I think I'm going to put a close on this because I have more stuff to write about but I can't use it all in one post. Hope you all had a great SL and RL New Year's. We'll see you all again soon on the flipside!
